Welcome Statement

Natalia Foley, JD, MA, PsyD Candidate, AMFT #137037
Supervised By Eve Sturges, MA, LMFT #103942

Welcome Statement

I provide individual therapy for adults, and relationship therapy for couples. I am a Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, AMFT #137037 supervised иy Eve Sturges, MA, LMFT #103942. I know that therapy can be a rewarding process for cultivating insight, understanding yourself and others, healing painful experiences, and facilitating the development of interpersonal skills that make for profound and lasting changes in an individual’s life.

My Vision of Therapy

I will guide you in applying the insight you will gain. You will be encouraged to do therapy homework in between sessions. Research shows that clients who do therapy homework between sessions make the most gains, and those that don’t are slower to improve. Therapy homework may involve reading an article, listening to a podcast, tracking moods or behaviors, writing thoughts and feelings; or trying a new approach to a problem. These will be my suggestions, and you always get to decide if it’s useful to you, or something you are willing to try.

My Approach To Therapy

There are many theoretical approaches to therapy, but the most important aspects, regardless of the orientation, are partnership, communication, collaboration, trust, understanding, setting goals, and taking action. Together we will collaborate to identify areas of concerns and your goals for therapy. While active listening is an essential component of any therapy, my approach is also interactive where you will be provided with feedback, recommendations and given tools to apply in your daily life.

About Natalia Foley

Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, AMFT #137037
Supervised by Eve Sturges, MA, LMFT #103942
  • Natalia Foley is an immigrant who came to the United States in 1999, in search of a better future for herself and her son.

Even though Natalia Foley was able to succeed in the Soviet Union as an actress, writer and journalist, she was not willing to silently comply with the totalitarian regime of the USSR, (the deprivation of freedom of speech and the violations of basic human rights). Natalia wrote one of the very first books in Russia supporting the LGBT community, she fearlessly exposed government corruption, collusion of government officials with mafia bosses, and was eventually forced to leave her motherland for her own safety.

  • She left behind many difficult and traumatic experiences, such as war, betrayal, and the loss of significant people in her life.

Natalia came to America and had to start everything from ground zero, learning to love America and to appreciate all of the opportunities available to her here. Natalia never stopped studying. Natalia Foley has a law degree and passed the California Bar exam, she has a Master’s in counseling psychology, and is currently working on her doctoral degree in counseling psychology.

  • Natalia has discovered her life purpose – helping people in crisis.

Her uneasy personal life experiences, her extensive education, and her deep understanding of life’s obstacles gives Natalia the opportunity to really connect with her clients, offering them the empathy and support, precisely at the moment that they need it the most. Currently Natalia is an associate therapist, working with various populations, including bit not limited to, couples, men, women, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Information for New Psychotherapy Clients

HIPAA compliance, California jurisdiction, insurance billing and more

Currently, my services are being offered via telehealth through a HIPAA-compliant video platform. I can only provide therapy services to individuals who reside within the state of California. If you are seeking services and do not reside in California, I recommend you go to the website – www.psychologytoday.com – enter your zip code, and you will see a list of qualified therapists in your area.
I understand that finding a therapist can be challenging, time-consuming and expensive. To that means, I want to make the process easier for you. While I am not accepting any insurances, I will provide you with a monthly billing statement (superbill) for you to submit to your insurance company. I also believe in setting reasonable fees, and if you have out of network benefits, you will likely be reimbursed for a portion of the fee.

We Make a Difference

Online Sessions Telehealth

Video conference counseling sessions are a convenient and comfortable way to participate in counseling. From the familiarity of your own room, you will be able to have face to face therapy sessions. Online counseling, sometimes called telehealth counseling or teletherapy, is done using video conference technology. ADVANTAGES: You can access your therapist from anywhere and you don’t have to drive! DISADVANTAGES: Online therapy is not the right fit for every situation. When you call we will determine if you are a good fit for online counseling, or whether in person sessions are recommended.
