Welcome Statement

I provide individual therapy for adults, and relationship therapy for couples. I am a Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, AMFT #137037 supervised by Eve Sturges, MA, LMFT #103942. I know that therapy can be a rewarding process for cultivating insight, understanding yourself and others, healing painful experiences, and facilitating the development of interpersonal skills that make for profound and lasting changes in an individual’s life.

My Vision of Therapy

I will guide you in applying the insight you will gain. You will be encouraged to do therapy homework in between sessions. Research shows that clients who do therapy homework between sessions make the most gains, and those that don’t are slower to improve. Therapy homework may involve reading an article, listening to a podcast, tracking moods or behaviors, writing thoughts and feelings; or trying a new approach to a problem. These will be suggestions, and you always get to decide if it’s useful to you, or something you are willing to try.

My Approach To Therapy

There are many theoretical approaches to therapy, but the most important aspects, regardless of the orientation, are partnership, communication, collaboration, trust, understanding, setting goals, and taking action. Together we will collaborate to identify areas of concerns and your goals for therapy. While active listening is an essential component of any therapy, my approach is also interactive where you will be provided with feedback, recommendations and given tools to apply in your daily life.
